The purpose of ATSAH is to promote the study and publication of art-historical primary sources, and to facilitate an interdisciplinary communication among scholars working with art, literature and music. Here are some of the things we do:
- Publish a newsletter once a year to disseminate information about ongoing scholarship, publications, conferences, and interdisciplinary programs for textual analysis.
- Organize conference sessions in conjunction with the College Art Association, the Society for Textual Scholarship, and other relevant national and international conferences.
- Publish summaries and reviews of important publications and presentations concerning editions, sources, and art-historical literature.
- Encourage the establishment of standards for editing and annotating art-historical primary sources.
- Encourage the interdisciplinary development of organizing a dialogue on art, literature and music for all scholars.
